What do you get yours? Each year it's getting harder and harder to shop for them! My oldest has this notion that new clothes are not really "gifts" as they are necessities :roll

Well my oldest is not in highschool yet but I would think money or gift cards would be best. Unless they tell you specifically what they want I would not even attempt to pick something they might like.

I had a hard time with my 14 year old neice this year. Unfortunately her mother doesn't allow anyone to give her kids gift cards. (WTF?!) She has some kind of gothic look. I had seen a lady at a recent expo who had necklaces made out of barbed wire. It looks realistic, but it's a soft leather. So I had her make a necklace with a cross on it for her.

My little brother is 13 and I got him a Cardinals T-shirt and money. I don't know what game systems, ipods, mp3's, etc he has so I went the safe route.

Ugh.. the expensive years. I am NOT looking forward to it. I like Candyland's suggestions :) And cash/gift cards are the gifts that keep on giving!

Joanna, that necklace sounds really cool! Did you take a pic of it?
This year was actually easy for my son. He wanted this really expensive paintball gun :roll I told him if he got a gun, that was the only thing he was going to get from everyone. He was fine with that :shrug PLUS, I found the gun he wanted on sale so I saved around $65 :faint I also bought him a box of paintballs and this weekend DH is taking the CO2 tanks and getting them filled up. I am also making him a fleece throw blanket (the no sew kind) and I got him Jenga.
My neices are the same age as he so I took Lilli with me and she helped me pick out some lotion sets. My nephews are a couple years older so for one we gave him an "Uno Attack" game and the other one got money towards his misson trip (hes' going with his youth group to Mexico to build a school house)

I got clothes, not many as mine too don't think they are really gifts. All my daughter wanted was Nintendo DS and some games and a couple movies so we got her what she asked for. But man just a couple things added up to almost $300 for her. She is only 9..... My son had PSP and Playstation games on his list. I got one of the gamer chairs at Target on Black Friday for him and the games he had listed. Again only a couple things and it almost totaled $300. Now the girls were easy but older ones were really hard this year.
Good luck!!
