The speech pathologist is here and I never know what to do for sure. Like, I want to give her some space to work with the kids but i dont want her to think i am ignoring her. I will go in there in awhile to get involved .. but do they prefer the parents not to or should I sit in there the whole time ? :shrug

Mine told me it is up to me and my son. I feel like I distract the kids, so I stay in the next room and mosey in a few times to see if she needs anything or if he is OK. THey are pretty comfortable with her now so I leave her alone most of the time.

It usually depended on the kid for me. Sometimes when I did homevisits, I would take the kiddo in his room or another room and do some stuff and then come out and demonstrate some things for Mom or Dad so they could see how to "practice" it. Some kids do a lot better without parents and some do better with parents very involved and others just need Mom or Dad in view. You might want to just ask her if she wants you to participate, watch or let them go.
How's it going, btw?

Just ask the therapist what she wants. That is what I did. And she said whatever was most comfortable for me and the kids.

This is what I've been doing. I didnt want to invade her space.

We have a threapist that comes to the house, and we go in to the center 2 times a week. At home, I stay with them. At the center, it jsut depends. Sometimes she takes them to another room, just for one on one time.
