My daughter Emily was born with several birth defects that fit into the catagory of VATER association. She has an ASD, VSD (both closed) and bicuspid valve of her heart. She has two misshaped vertibrea, 13 ribs on one side and on the other a bifricated rib, where one rib splits into two, so she looks even. She also has a TEF, her esophagus did not connect to her stomach, that has been repaired. At one time she had a G-Tube (mickey button) but that has been out for a year and a half.:thumbsup

When they did the TEF repair they had to collapse her right lung, if didn't fully recover until she was about 18months old. Because of that she has breathing issues, Reactive Airway Disease and is very prone to pnuemonia.

I am writting what was ment to be just a short into to her health issues but has turned into a long detailed stoy in the post titles Emily's story.

Wow, she must be so resilient to deal with all of that. Isn't the spirit of survival such a beautiful and amazing thing? You must feel so lucky to get to share in her life. I hope she continues to remain strong.
