At our NICU follow up last fall they told us that Evie had Low Muscle tone and that it could be treated with PT after her operation (we didn't want to put her throught too much at once) Since the operation just kept getting delayed we never called. Now she almost 1 and I feel that its gotten worse, and I feel like I should of called a while ago!!
Has anyone done this? I'm just curious as to what they can do for her, I guess I'm just hoping that I didn't drop the ball completely....
Thanks in advance

If you want her to be re-evaluated you can call Early Intervention in your state and ask for one. Here in my state, I could go online and request an evaluation. I haven't done it for low tone, but I did do it for speech issues with the twins and now with my baby.

Any amount of therapy, at any age, will be beneficial. Have her evaluated again :yep

Hey Liz!! :wave
My friend has a 26 weeker who is a little over 2 now. She did PT with her and it worked wonders!! They did some really off the wall stuff (by that I just mean stuff you would never think of) too and she just kept getting better and better. I am sure you will have the same experience with Evie :hugs

Do they drag her around the house on a blanket?

I agree with the PPs. Every little bit helps. Megan goes to PT/OT. PT for weak muscles/lack of tone. She has been going since Aug '06, maybe September, can't remember off the top of my head, but it has done wonders for her. She went from not doing much of anything other than the occassional roll, to rolling, crawling, and now cruising. She's not 100% but I have seen a vast improvement.

Our boys didn't even start their therapy until they were 9 mths of age so 1 yr is definitely not too old. They still get PT/OT once a week just to help them with fine motor skills and to start some speech therapy as well. If you qualify, it certainly can't hurt and will only help her catch up faster :) Good luck!!!

Audrey has low muscle tone and Emily has high tone. They both get PT twice a week and it has really made a difference. You can get Early Intervention here until the age of 3 then it has to be done through the school system. It is definitely not to late to get evaluated. I would definitely call. Good luck and keep us posted.

We went through the intervention program in our county for free PT. A therapist comes to the house once a week for PT and it seems to have really helped. I'd check with your county and see if they have a similar set up.

Thanks for checking Min!!!
We just met with the case worker last Friday. The Physical therapist, the case worker and another person (I can't remember who:think2 ) are coming on the 12th for her evaluation.
