I don't know if ya'll know this or not, but my twins were in speech therapy for six months. When we moved to this house, we suspended therapy to see how'd they do. I was told that anytime prior to their third birthday I could always start it back up. They are still seriously struggling. :sad I've deluded myself into thinking that they are doing so much better (which they are) however, they are still not up to a "normal" level of speech. I called last week to re-start their therapy and found that there is such a shortage of speech therapists in my new area, that no one will be available to see the twins until the end of Aug! This will not do because they turn three in Sept. Once that happens, they have to go through the school district instead of EI. Today I put a call in to the school to see about having them re-evaluated, but the lady in charge of special services is gone until mid next week. Hopefully, they'll get an appt soon after that and will be able to start preschool in the fall. I'm just so sad that my babies are behind :kickcan And, quite honestly, I blame myself :cry
Oh, I hate when there is more of a demand than there are people in a certain field. I'm sorry, I hope you get it all figured out. Keep us posted.

Toad had three years of speech. We pulled him out when he was Kindergarten age. He still has speech issues, but is slowly learning to overcome them. Part of his problem is the desire to enunciate.

Just keep trying to get them in with the school, I am sure they will have room for them there. I am sure they will have a language explosion soon. How far behind are they?

I'm not sure how far behind they are, I just know that they are behind. When they first started with therapy Payton wouldn't even open his mouth to speak, he'd just grunt. Now he at least is talking, but he pauses between each word. They're total vocabulary is probably around 100-200 words total. I'm not sure how much they should be speaking right now but I do know that people can't understand most of what Payton says. For "yes" he says "Nes" so people think he's saying "NO". When he's hungry, he asks for "beckus". It took me forever to figure out that he was saying "breakfast".
Anyway, I know there is more, but I just can't think of it right now. I just wish I knew what to do for him to prevent this from happening :kickcan He also has some low tone issues in his legs and mouth. I'm not sure if those two things are seperate problems, or the same? :shrug
