I suck. Let me just start off by pointing out the obvious. :( My 6 yr old lost yet another tooth yesterday and the tooth fairy didn't come...because she fell asleep. :para I could say the night before, thanks to one of the twins, was a nightmare and I was up all night because she is GETTING a tooth so I was so tired I fell asleep, and it would be the truth, but I can't exactly tell her that. :shakehead She wasn't TOO distraught over it..she was pretty matter of fact about it actually, but I feel bad. I have no idea how to get out of this one.

I have done this a few times. I often say well you know the tooth fairy is busy lets try again tonight. Or with my older I hid the money fast and said oh you missed it. Yeah I have fell asleep more then once. Throw in something extra she will forget the tooth fairy forgot.

I have fallen asleep and just plain forgot several times before :lol
What we do when this happens is write that child a letter telling what had happened (like the tooth fairy was sick, had way more houses to visit and didn't make it to all of them, lost her wand and couldn't fly, or the bag she carries her teeth in sprung a hole and needed to be mended before she could finish :lol) Then the next night we leave it for them sometimes we will tell the child me need to move the tooth just in case the fairy couldn't find it the night before.
My kids always fall for it and now we have to write notes from everyone Santa, Easter Bunny, every freaking body has to leave a note or the kids get upset.

:hugs Good luck hope she forgives the tooth fairy :)

We have also started putting their teeth on top of the TV so we don't have to wait on them to go to sleep and the tooth fairy can find it better :para

Uh yeah my mom did this so often that we had an arrangement with the tooth fairy if she forgot a night :lol You'd get 50 cents a tooth per night, up to like 2 dollars (even if she forgot for like a week, which she was known to do - most mornings we'd be like "Mom the tooth fairy didn't come!" and she'd go "Dammit! I mean, damn tooth fairy!"). We lived on base so she'd blame it on the MPs a lot too. "Oh, I guess she didn't have her military id to get past the gate, sweetie, I'm sure she'll remember tonight." :teehee

And I might add, we used to be happy when the tooth fairy forgot to come, cause you knew you'd get more money :lol

Maybe the tooth fairy had the flu :para and she is leaving letters (done in cool colored pencils) to all the kids she couldn't get to last night explaining that she will be back to work on Monday :yep

:lol Sweetheart, I have done this more times than I can count. :lol Here is a link to a "toothfairy Contest" Sofa had back in August. It has some great ideas.

Check the link out for my ideas. I'm too lazy this morning to type it all out again. :para

This is what we do, too.
