1-2-3 Magic by Dr. Phelan

A friend of mine recommended this book to me... Have any of you read it yet? What do you think about it?

I looked at that one online, but ended up getting Setting Limits with Your Strong-Willed Child. It did wonders for Emma and for our relationship. She is soooo much better behaved now. It is awesome! I also got Easy to Love, Hard to Discipline, but never really got to read it.

Have you looked into "love and logic"?

I like to read lots of different books and take pieces that will work for us from each of them.

Thanks ladies! I haven't heard of those but will check into them. The 1-2-3 Magic book came in the mail today and I like it a lot.

I just bought that book on Monday, after having a horrible day with my kids (DS especially!). It's been recommended to me for over a year; but I thought I could handle what my kids dished out, basically. Well, after Zane screeching at the top of his lungs, putting his feet up on the table while pushing himself off the booster seat, swishing milk around in his mouth & spitting it out across the table on purpose, clearing our table, etc at the restaurant- I had ENOUGH!

So far, I like the book. I've been trying it out; even though I'm not finished with it. Ash has been sent to her room with the door closed 3xs today; Zane once. Outside of that, neither are getting past the count of 1 or 2. (keeping fingers crossed!)

Has anyone recommended "raising your spirited child"?

I read it, liked it. It works very well with dd. Ds was tougher as we were not as consistant with him as he tend to make himself vomit when he gets really pissed. Now we are using it more with him and it is working better. It has stopped him from throwing his glasses as much.
