Update on Megan

We fianlly restarted her therapies! :woot She hasn't gotten anything since JAnuary because of insurance issues. Now that I don't have insurance we qualified for the federal grant and everything is moving right along.

She had her first OT appt today with her new Ot Therapist. Her old one is out on maternity leave. I really liked this girl a lot and so did Megan. We go to PT and OT tomorrow. They are trying to get me back to back appt so I limit my dricing time. FL sucks and doesn't have many therapists that come to the house.

She also got a new caseworker, which is great because her old one was worthless. Susan (new cw) and I were on the phone for like an hour the other day. She is going to meet iwth me tomorrow while Megan is getting her therapies and she is looking into getting Megan a speech eval since Megan only says "dadadada" and grunts. :para She did "babble" somewhat the other day which totally surprised us. I had a necklace on that LH made for me and she took it in her hands and said "gargle gargle gargle" Beats the hell out of me what she was saying but it made us happy to hear her saying "something"
KWIM.

I have my concerns with Megan for quite some time and her PT has noticed it too, so I know I am not nuts. Hopefully with the new CW, things will start rolling. Against my better judgement, I went on an Autism site and took the questionaire they have. Megan scored a 78, which doesn't really tell me anything so I am taking a copy fo the scores and questionaire with us tomorrow and discuss it with her CW. If anyone has any insite on this questionaire and what the score means, I'd love to hear it. I know Iam probably giving myself more to worry about but I want my little girl to have every chance possible, no matter what her "limitations" may be. KWIM?

I'm so glad she has a new caseworker and is back in therapy. :hugs I don't have any insight on the test or scores from the autism site, but the scary thing about the internet is one thing could have the same symptoms/signs as 50 million others...ya know? I think you are incredible though! You are her biggest advocate and that's the way it's supposed to be..with you on her side she will be doing so many things in no time. Good luck with this fresh start and please let us know how she's doing !!

Ot/Pt went well today. She lit up when she saw Jess, her PT. I discussed the test with both her Ot and Pt as well as with a resident Pedi that was observing today. They all feel that she should be evaled by a neuro, that way we know for sure what, if anything, we are dealng with.

I was talking to my boss about this evening and expressing my concerns for MEgan and the fact that I ahve to wait until my insurance from work starts to set the eval because I can't afford a neuro out of pocket. Are you ready for this? He puuled hjis cell out of his pocket, called his secretary and told her to call Blue Cross and Blue Shield and have my insurance start ASAP. He told her to tell them that he waived the 90 days for me and wants my insurance to be retro as of 4/1/07. :thud I started crying. He called while I was on the way home and told me to call a neuro tomorrow for an appt because I was already on. I had idea it would happen that quickly.

I'm so glad she is back in therapy and that you got a caseworker that you really like...that can make so much difference. It's great that you are assessing all of the possibilities and approaching everything with a willingness to learn and resolve any issues. Try not to worry too much. Treatment at an early age for any number of "problems" is the best thing you can do and I'm sure she will not lack for opportunities in life...especially with such a great mommy. :pinkheart
