I had a fairly typical twin pregnancy. I was "dating" the girls' dad (had been for about 5 weeks), when I had "those" feelings. You know the ones. The "I'm pregnant" feelings. I POAS and before I was even done pee'ing, it was blue.:eek Told their dad and we both freaked out. We had only slept together once (our first "date"), used a condom, and I was on the pill. I scheduled an OB appt for a blood test, and when the results came, the nurse said I was either 4 months pg or there was more than one in there. I was actually excited about this! If I'm going to be a single mom, I might as well go all the way.:lol 2 days later I was bleeding and cramping so I went in for an u/s and it was confirmed that I was 5.5 weeks pg with twins!:woot

I ended up having some bleeding and cramping thru my first trimester, which is common for twin pregnancies. I remember when my ribs spread at 12 weeks...ouch! I managed my morning sickness okay so that I only threw up once, but felt like I had a 14 week hangover.:roll

I started having contractions at 20 weeks. I had them often enough so that I was in L&D every 2 weeks, which progressed to at least once a week. I got the super fun Terb shots frequently, but I never actually dialated. They diagnosised me with an irritable uterus...ya think?! At 19 weeks, I had 1 confirmed girl, and at 20 weeks, I had two confirmed girls!:woot I can't remember the dates, but at some point around 25 weeks, it was discovered that the girls had a discoordinate growth difference of 23%. 23% is not that bad, but they worry about anything over 20%, and freak out about anything over 25%...so I was right in the middle. Eowyn was the smaller one. They had their own sacs and placentas (di/di), so they didn't know why their weight was so different. I later realized that they are just different people, and Eowyn goes thru her growth suprts 1-2 weeks after Amelie.

At 28 weeks, my cervix started softening so they put me on terb pills, and modified bedrest...esentially house arrest and stay off my feet as often as possible. I also started having OB appts once a week, and NST's twice a week. My OB did mini u/s's every visit, and so do the NST nurses, so I got to see my beauties 3 times a week.:woohoo Loved that! I was also in L&D 3 times a week with contractions, a "sleeping baby", or some other thing that worried my OB. Oh I also had PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension). My blood pressure was out the roof, and my feet were so swollen I couldn't move my toes very often.

Things progressed like this until I was taken off the terb at 35 weeks. My OB said he would just deliver me at any point after that. I was uncomfortable to say the least...in constant pain sums it up. I measured 40 weeks when I was 30 weeks, and my belly weighed appx 40lbs.:thud I typically felt like I had the flu too.

One day I woke up feeling like I had been run over by a semi. I went into L&D (again), and my OB checked me. I had been in to see his wife (they were a husband/wife team who both worked at Kaiser) the day before, and I was not dialated at all. Well, that morning I was 2cm dialated, 75% effaced, and having regular contractions. I was 36w3d and I was havin' me some babies!:luv :luv
