We found out we were pregnant with the twins around 5.5 weeks. I had some cramping and went in to be seen. They did an U/S and I was looking at the U/S machine and thought - oh how wild -- they can see the baby from different angles (hearts were beating). She kept looking and her face grew serious. I was like "What is wrong?" She said that she was not allowed to say anything. I was pretty demanding and finally she asked if twins ran in the family and I said yes. Then she went to get the doc. Doc ran the U/S and confirmed twins. Our journey began.

I have an incompetent cervix hence the loss of my son Zachary. At 13 weeks, I had a cerclage placed to keep the cervix closed. I developed irritable uterus (not uncommon for those with cerclages). Around 16 weeks, I began taking a motrin to control the uterus spasms.

We found out Ian was a boy at 13 weeks -- it was real obvious. The jury was still out on the sex of Montana.

At 24 weeks, I was placed on bedrest because my uterus was really irritable and my doctor was concerned. The length of the cervix was decreasing. So I joined the rest of those in the soriety of BED REST MOMMAS and it sucked. Good thing for the internet--that is how I found TS and developed relationships with fellow expecting Mommies. The support was awesome.

At 26 weeks, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. To no avail, we tried controlling it with diet. I went on oral meds and eventually had to have a shot of insulin in the morning and at night. My uterus was still acting up so I began a different regimen of meds to quiet ole girl down.

Around 29 weeks, my irritable uterus became more irritable (I have a uterus with attitude  ) and had to increase meds. These meds, geesh, I can't remember -- but they had me bouncing off the walls. I was on them the rest of my pregnancy.

Around 31 weeks, I went into labor and had increased dosage of the wacky drug that had me bouncing off the walls. The labor stopped but they had me take the shots to expedite lung development in I and M. Meeting with the NICU specialists were set-up etc..., I was scared to death.

Around 34 weeks, 3 days, I was released from the hospital -- I was actually given parole for good behavior.

When I was 34 weeks, 6 days, I went in for an NST.

Nurse: "You aren't supposed to see the doctor today, but you are going to park it until I can get you in! You don't look good!"

I thought I would be there for awhile, but he saw me in about 10 mins. He looked at my chart, looked at me, and said

"Got the bag in the car?"

Me: "Of course! You told me to carry it!"

Doc: "Good, we are having babies tomorrow!"

Me: "Really?"

So at 35 weeks, I delivered I and M. Ian weighed 4 lbs 11 oz and was 17.5 inches long. Montana weighed 5 lbs 7 oz and was 18 inches long. She always measured 4 days ahead of Ian.

I got to see them briefly and then they quickly departed the surgical sweet because Ian was having problems.
