I had a very uncomplicated pregnancy. I worked until the day I had them and was really never put on restricted activity. I had horrible swelling but other than that no real problems.
I went in on March 20th for a scheduled c-section. Jarret was butt first and had been since 20 weeks so I knew I would have a section. When I got there they did an ultrasound to make sure he was still butt first and found out I was having contractions and they were 2 minutes apart. I never felt anything! I had no clue. Things picked up a little then. They took me in for my spinal. I was really scared to have this done! It really wasn't bad at all. I told them I thought I needed to move position because my bottom half was going numb. LOL! I was so nervous I forgot that is what was supposed to happen.
They started the section and a couple of minutes later Jarret was born. They showed me my wide eyed baby boy to me and then the hunt began for sis. She was so far up and they had to do a lot of tugging which made me ill. It seemed like forever but really only a minute later Lydia was born. They showed her to me and said they thought she needed to get under oxygen. So off to the nursery they both went.
I went to recovery where I kept blacking out. My blood pressure was really low and I was itching like crazy. They made my family leave until they got me stabilized and then they wheeled me through the nursery so I could see my babies. After awhile they brought the babies to me in my room. I was holding Jarret and he started turning blue. Thankfully, a nurse was in the room and she whisked my baby away. I was terrified! They gave me something to knock me out and when I woke up my day of pure bliss had changed dramatically. :(
Jarret had an IV in his head, was on cpap, apnea monitor, heart monitor, feeding tube, and in a warmer. He was diagnosed with respiratory distress and apnea. He stayed in the hospital for 1 week and came home with an apnea monitor. They made excuses for Lydia to stay admitted for a week too so I didn't have to leave my babies. At our hospital you stay for free until your babies are released. We all came home and then the real adventure began!!
