I actually learned a lot today. I did not know they would tell me their findings but they did.

*Garrett is on the autistic spectrum. He is very high functioning, almost not even on the spectrum.

* He has a severe expressive language delay.

* He is being tested for Fragile X syndrome

* He is being tested for Ciliac disease

* They are doing a complet genetic workup on him.

* They want physical therapy increased to 1 time a week.

*They want occupational therapy increased to 1 time a week.

* They are giving us a referral for speech therapy at a different location, so he can have MORE therapy. They feel speech is his biggest concern.

*Mommy is a nervous wreck.

The Dr. we met with was amazing. Her name is Patricia Nash. I guess she is nationally known. I felt so comfortable with her. They kept talking about how adorable Garrett is. I go back next week on Wed. They are going to run a battery of tests. I am not sure what, but they said I would be there about 4 hours again. Then I will go back in 6 weeks for the final report, results from all the blood work, ect. Overall I am very happy with everything. They want me to get the PECS communication system for Garrett. I am looking into that right now. I also got a referral for Gavin to the Developmental clinic. They do the same things, except not with the Autism spin. If there is concern, then he will be referred on to the Autism clinic also.

Oh yeah, and the Dr. said she is not putting anything in writeing with the Autism just yet. She said he is on the spectrum, but bearly. She wants to do the intence therapy and see where he is agian in 8-9 months. I really liked her approach.

It sounds like you have a very thorough doctor. I hope she stays with it and gets your Garrett the care he needs.

Isn't great when you love and trust your childs Dr? Did she say why she wanted to test for Celiac?

Wow, that's a lot for one day for mommy and Garrett. :hugs I am glad that you got some answers. It sounds like the doctor is awesome, and I know how important trust in a doctor is. I hope that he doesn't have Celiac disease, but they do need to find out the cause of his diarrhea. :crossed You may have some results from the genetic testing next week. Those usually only take about a week.

Is the PECS system where the kids use pictures and point to what they want/need? If so, that is a really great system for communication. I'm glad that the doctor is so thorough. Good luck next week. :bighug
