At what time do you expect your child to go to bed on school nights? LIGHTS OUT.

How old are they?

My 4 year olds go to bed at 8 on school nights. Sometimes if they are really wound I'll let them watch a 30 minutes movie in bed to calm them down. LIGHTS OUT at 8:30...no questions. They have to get up at 6am to get ready.

My younger ones go to bed around 8pm. I'll allow my odest to stay up until 8:30-9pm. They're ages are 13, 11, 9, 5 and the twins are almost 3. Evan sometimes wants to go to bed earlier, so he may go down around 7:30.

Emma is 6 and she goes down between 7:30 and 8pm. Maybe this is too early? Maybe I should let her stay up till 8 and read till 8:30.

shoot. i remember my parents made us go to bed at like 6. it sucked in the summer when all the kids in the neighborhood were still out playing...i remember begging to stay up and watch full house (ended at 6:30) and they wouldn't let me...

the kids i babysat for went down at 7 (weren't in school yet though), and even that was tough when it was light out during the summer...im thinking like 8 or 9 for mine once i get them on a schedule, but then again, they're not in school yet...

I think it depends on how much sleep your child needs and how early they need to get up in the morning. My younger kids have to get out of bed by 6-6:15am and my oldest has to be up by 6:45.

My near 6 year old has to be in bed at about 8, and she still has the afraid-of-the-dark thing, so it's not really light's out, but I leave at 8:30. (We follow this thing I read in the 1-2-3 Magic book. At 8, I tell her to get her PJ's on, wash her face and brush her teeth. I wait for her in my room. As soon as she's done, we'll read as many books as we can until it's 8:30. It cuts down on her whole night-time stall thing. If she takes forever, then we might not have any mom-Alex time that night.) The summer she was up until 9:30 or so, but 8:30 is it for school nights.

We were always a strict 8pm bedtime until about a year ago ...NO! Maybe 6 mo. ago??? Now it's more like 9-9:30. In the summer they stayed up later sometimes and conked out earlier sometimes. They always needed their sleep! They are like their mama. We all need our beauty rest! :eurotrash

Maddy is 5 and her bed time is 8-8:30 pm
Shawn 8 and his bed time is 9 pm
Chris is 12 and his bed time is 10pm

Shawn and Maddy are up at 6:45 am. Chris gets to stay up as late as he does because he doesn't have to get up until 7:45 am.

Honestly Danae does not have a bedtime. But she usually does conck out about 10 or so. She is 10 (will be 11 in Nov) She knows that if she stays up too latte the next day when she has to get up in the morning she will be tired.
