I am no longer breastfeeding, in fact I never did with the twins at all...they went straight on the bottle. That was because my body couldn't handle it due to my RA, and the meds I was on.

I did however BF both Sarah and Emma each for about 6 weeks. I know that is not a long period of time, and in retrospect I wish I had done it longer. I know it is better then nothing...but I wish I could go back and keep going with it.

Beak was 14 months.
Toad and Q were 13 months, but that last month was spent weaning them.

Emma was 2 1/2.

Yes, that is 2.5 years, not months. :shrug It worked for us, it was good for her, she'd probably still be doing it if I let her, though I can't even imagine that.

ETA: I nursed Ben in the hospital until they took him to the NICU. He was fed my EBM once and I pumped every two hours round the clock while he was in the NICU.

way to go everyone, including lilac! it is a big deal to give bm for 6 weeks, and with the twins you had your hands full and needed to be healthy. i wish you could have since you wanted to, though. :hugs

as for anyone who pumped exlusively, i really admire you. that is a lot of work.:flowers everyone who responded should be really proud of any bm you could provide at all:flowers

i bf my son years ago for 7 months...didn't know it was a nursing strike and i could have gotten him to nurse again...oh well, we do the best we can with what we know.

the girls are 2.5 years old now, and they still nurse 4-5 times a day. i know it is good for them, and they love it, so we will go until they are ready to stop. :frolic

I nursed the girls for 25 months. I was working fulltime and they were still nursing 3-4 times a day. I thought it was time. I wish I had let them self wean. I thought I was ready to stop, but after I did, I regretted it. I'm sure they would still be nursing, and that would be fine with me. I really really enjoyed it, and it was so healthy for them. It was also the best thing in the world when they were sick. Now I just want to pop them on a boob when they are sick, tired, or even just cranky. Mamabirdie, keep going as long as you can!!!:clap

Everyone has done an awesome job! BB, keep nursing! You are so awesome for this gift you are giving to Bella!!:clap

Traci was 9 months.

Kelly was about 2 weeks. With the stress of my recovery (major blood loss) I wasn't able to produce enough for her. Once I stopped trying to nurse I recovered much faster. I felt really bad for a very long time that it didn't work with the twins, but I did the best I could.

Emmy couldn't take any food for a couple of weeks. Once she could I pumped some for her but for the same reasons as Kelly I just couldn't produce enough.

I did my DD for 12 mths, the boys are still bf, they are almost 13 mths.

I am down to just morning and evenings though - they were killing me with their teeth a month ago, so I started to wean them, but now it's not hurting anymore!! :lol

I know what you mean about them being sick - one of the boys got sick (horrible fever and dehydrated) last weekend when we were on vacation, so I stuck him on my boob every chance I got, and he responded by sucking for hours!! :lol But before that, he wouldn't feed for more than a few seconds - he had other things to do!! :teehee I truly know it helped him so much, and at that point, I was so glad we were still bf - there's no way I could have got him to drink that much fluid from a sippy cup.

So, after that long story, :lol, we're kinda weaning, but now they're teeth aren't killing me anymore, I'm just going to wait and see what happens. :)

I somehow missed this. We're still going strong and I want to go at least a year. I don't know if I can handle having G cups any longer. :(

wow! that is great for all of you who did bf, and at least you wanted to or tried if you couldn't. :redcheer

ring, that is awesome how long you bf! it is so great for them, and you are so right! it has gotten them through so much, and is the best gift i can give them nutritionally (and other ways too). we will keep going until they are ready to stop, which at this rate (still 5 times a day or so) might be college :rofl no, i draw the line at high school...:rofl

seriously, bf toddlers is a great experience, and really different than babies. i wouldn't trade it for the world...except the wiggling and stealing toys while still latched on. ow...lol. thanks for the advice, ring. i have no idea how any of us would ahve made it this far without bf. :pinkygirly
