I thought that we would tell a bit about our babies that had to spend some time in the NICU. How long did they stay, how old are they now and how they are doing today?

Emily stayed in the NICU for 79 days. She is 3 years old now. She does have Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. She is on two different seizure medications. So her time in the sun is very limited as she burns really easy. She is very content and so lovable. She loves to be hugged and kissed on. She still can't sit on her own and she can bear weight some but I think it is only because she has very high muscle tone, meaning her muscles are really tight.

Audrey stayed in the NICU for 145 days. She is also 3 (:duh :lol) She also has Cerebral Palsy and is Hormone Growth Deficient. She receives an injection of medicine daily. She has grown accustomed to it and doesn't seem to mind so much anymore. She is my wild cat. She is too busy to get too many hugs and kisses from. She is always laughing at her big brother. She thinks he hung the moon. :wub She can bear weight now which 6 months ago she could not do. I fully expect her to get up and walk one day. :yep She is just that type of person.

Now, I want to hear from everyone else.

My babies were born at 32 weeks and 6 days. They both stayed in the NICU for 31 days. Right now they are about to turn 3 months in 10 days!! They are doing great!! Sleeping for about 5 hours a night (some nights more)! They have no problems other then reflux which I don't really think has anything to do with them being preemies because while they were in NICU they weren't diagnosed with it. Thank God they are perfectly healthy and growing great =)

I have been a very lucky twin mom! Grant and Jason were born at 35 weeks weighing 1.8kg and 2.1kg respectively. They were in NICU for four hours just for observation and came home 2 days after me, ie they were in for a total of five days.

They are now almost 8months and although they are slightly behind on their developments all is well. They are healthy and thriving. Grant weighs 8.1kg and Jason weighs 8.9kg.

They are starting to sit unassisted and absolutely love their big brother, they will watch and laugh at him for hours on end!

my girls were born at 35 weeks and if it werent for hypertension it would have been longer.

Eve was 4 lbs 7 oz
Penny was 3lbs 10 oz

eve NICU stay was 9 days mostly to see if she can eat, hold temp, and rid her of jundus

Penny stay was 18 days I think cant remember, and for the same reasons as eve but sence she was smaller they just kept her a bit longer.

now they are 3
Eve is now 29 lbs
Penny is now 26 lbs

It took them for ever to get over 20 lbs and recently they been able to maintain over 25 pounds

they are very skiny and very tall.

they are very smart and talk like teenager.

My first singleton was a NICU baby and is now 14 :thud :cry

He was 10 1/2 weeks premature, weighed 4lbs1oz and stayed in for about a month. Came home for a week and went back in for another month due to RSV(back before they knew a whole lot about it: (). Both of his lungs collapsed and he was on a ventilator for almost 3 weeks. He was sent home both times with a portable heart monitor because of apnea.

After he recovered from that he was back in the hospital a few times during the first year for sever reflux and being septic.

Once we passed the one year mark he was a whole different child! He almost never got sick, he was caught up if not ahead for his actual age.
Now he is just a regular ol'teen :newmom

Hannah and Aidan were born 7 weeks early and spent 4 weeks and 1 day in the NICU.

Now they are happy, healthy almost 3 year olds :faint. Aidan still shows some fine motor delay but nothing serious. Other than that they are all caught up but still a little on the small side. Their language constantly astounds me, sometimes I feel like I have two teenagers in my house instead of preschoolers. :wub It's really amazing to see how far they've come and how well they are doing.

My boys were born at 25 weeks in March of 2005. Jake was in the NICU for 3.5 months and Joe for 4 and at one point they were in different hospitals/different cities about 3 hours apart due to eye (ROP) surgeries for Joe. We're very glad to be far away from those experiences!!!

They're just over 3 now and are a hand full! Along with their little brother Jon who is 14 mths it is sometimes a whirlwind around here but mostly a whole lot of fun!!!

Joe is blind in his right eye and impaired in his left due to ROP and has been through 6 surgeries (5 for vision and 1 for hypospadias.) He's quite behind in speech but is otherwise doing fantastic and is definitely my little lovebug. If you come over and will just sit and snuggle with him he'll be your best friend forever :)

Jake is very near sighted but that doesn't seem to slow him down at all and he's quite the handfull and even more so the little back talker :) I wish I didn't find that so amusing as then maybe he'd stop doing it so much! He's just like his Mama :pat He's had only 3 surgeries (2 for vision and 1 for bilateral hernias) but, aside from being a skinny minny, you wouldn't know at all that he was almost 4 months premature.

Jon is our little "bonus" baby and, although we were terrified the entire house arrested pregnancy he's just the happiest and most fun to have around. I had a hard time dealing with everything sometimes and staying home full time but now wouldn't change it for a minute and adore being with the twinks and bonus all day!!! It's still a struggle sometimes with Joe's vision loss (he's legallly blind) and watching Jake play with the neighbor kids and run off leaving Joe behind but I just couldn't imagine my life without any of them so we are truly blessed.

I think that's about it! :)
