or is something wrong with me? when i have letdown, there's a really intense burning way up in my boobs. and one of my nipples always hurts when the girls latch on. like really bad. like i cringe when i use that one. but it's not cracked or dried out or anything...i guess that's two problems. any ideas?

does it hurt only when they latch or keep hurting? if it keeps hurting you might have bad latches on one or both that are irritating the nipple, or you might have the beginnings of thrush. let us know if that is the case...the pain contiues. also, keep lansinoh on your nipples to help them not dry or crack. it will soothe them. the link below may help you to see if you think it is normal letdown or thrush starting.

the same goes for your letdown. is the burning only at letdown, or other times too? i used to have a very strong letdown, and it hurt, but i dodn't hurt through the feeding or other times much. here is another link to check out.

let us know what you think...does it sound like thrush, or just a very strong letdown and irritated nipples? i suggest taking acidophilus every day if you tend toward yeast infections. if i get sore at all i take it for a few days, and it seems to make a big difference. i have never gotten full-blown thrush, and i do credit that for at least part of it.

hope it is the letdown and not anything else, but let us know either way and if you need help! :friends

I have a really really strong let down reflex and most of my boob would "sting".

When they latch onto that nipple and it hurts, does the pain subside? If it does, it's probably just your nipples getting used to constantly being sucked on. It will get better. Try Lanolin. Even if they're not dry or cracked, it will help. It could also be possible wrong latches. Focus on how they are latching, look at the stickies on patches here, and see if you can relatch them when it's painful.

As for your letdown, you might just have a really strong letdown right now. It could also be thrush (that stuff's fun:roll ), or a clogged duct somewhere. Try massaging your breasts and see if you can find any hard or sore areas.

Let us know how it goes!

um, with the nipple pain, it hurts for a little bit, but then it goes away. i have noticed that using lansinoh a lot helps a bit, but i always forget to use it. i just never seem to have it handy wherever i'm nursing, and forget to go get it by time i'm done with both girls. i gotta get better with that.

as for the letdown pain, it's only during letdown. it used to tingle, now it burns. i thought maybe it was just strong letdown, but i wasn't sure, so i wanted to check.

so far, it sounds like strong letdown and irritated nipples, but i have yet to check out that link. once i do i'll get back to ya about the thrush...

yes, from what you say it does sound like that. my letdown used to be painful because i had so much milk. the poor girls were just about drowned, and it spurted if they let go. ugh. that hurt, but i dont' feel it much at all now. i guess by now my breasts think it is normal to have milk for years...lol.

i would keep a lansinoh by your bed and one where you nurse or at the computer. you can use it each time you remember that way, and it really makes a difference. good it sounds as if both things will ease up. you are doinga wonderful job feeding those sweet girlies!:bananadance2

lol its funny you say that...i must have the same problem. if my girls let go too soon after let down i swear i shoot milk like a foot lol. that must be what it is. the girls a lot of times will dribble milk when they're eating and often end up coughing and sputtering because they were trying to breathe and there was milk in the way lol. i guess i just make a lot too then...

yes, sounds as if you make a lot, and that is awesome! keep up whatever you are doing. they will get better able to handle all that milk coming out. my girls gulped away after they got big enough. at first they sputtered like that too...lol. :hehe

:woot You're a milk makin' machine! Maybe you should change your name to Betsy.:lol

FYI, spitting up could be caused to too quick of a let down. If you think it's a problem, pump for a minute or so before you latch the girls on.

yes, ring. i used to have to keep a cloth diaper nearby to let out a little so they wouldn't drown:lol :lol
