I started brushing my boys' teeth (per se) before they even got them. I heard that it helps with teething.

We have a few issues with adjusting to change. They got their teeth brushed before they had teeth.

Same as duck and Zak, I started "brushing" basically with a fingertip soft tip brush that masssages the gums.

Same here. Then when they got real teeth we got them a battery operated toothbrush (kids's versions) and they LOVED it. It rotates so as long as we got in there, it did the job. They didn't like us brushing manually and this was tickle-y and fun.

OHHHHHHHHHH and my advice is to ask your ped about a vitamin with floride. OUr ped never gave it without me asking but ALWAYS agreed when I did ask. They STILL take chewables and we have NEVER had a cavity. EVER! I know so many parents whose kids have had cavity issues to the point of having to be sedated and each time I ask if they ever took a flouride supplement and they say no. Only the one the dentist does. THat daily vitamin is something I highly recommend.

I brush their gums. I just found out from the OT that an electric toothbrush will help stimulate their mouth/tongue muscles.

They boys get their teeth brushed 3 times a day now :para I have this thing about teeth. In the morning and evening I put them on my vanity and we all brush together (manual at the moment, they like to play with the battery operated ones). Then when I am done, I finish brushing for them. At the daycare, because of standards, the boys (at this age) cannot hold their own, so the teacher has to do it for them. I haven't looked into those vitamins Sofa mentioned, I don't know if the boys are old enough. However, against everyone else's decision (like it's theirs to make), I do still give the boys nursery water at least 1-2 times a day which has added fluoride.

I started brushing when they got their first tooth. Before that they chewed on the tooth brush but I didn't really "brush".

Our tap water has fluoride in it and our doctor and dentist advised against any extra fluoride.

I started actually brushing when they got their first tooth. Before that they would just bite on the toothbrush. We also take vitamins given to us by our pedi that has flouride in it. Our dentist said this is very important
