View Full Version : What sports or activites are
your school aged kids involved in?
Oldest is in the band, he plays the trombone. He is on the yearbook staff and on the cross country team.
A & A play soccer. Dont know what their late fall plans are yet. I am just glad they are the same team! But, it is a "traveling" team and some of our games have been quite a far drive!
I feel as if all I do is drive, drive drive and plan my life around theirs. kwim?
This week coming up is crazy, again! Nick has cross country practice every afternoon. And a meet on Tuesday (and its far away! UGH!) Than on Wednesday night he has a meeting with our Priest because he is receiving Confirmation in October.
A & A have an ortho appt on Wednesday. A half day of school on Monday and soccer practice Monday and Wednesday. Oh and a game on Saturday.
I feel as if we are always on the run and the school year has just begun! :p
All of this on top of a crap load of homework every night.
I need a vacation. On a tropical island with cabana boys fetching me drinks and rubbing my feet! :Wee

Wow... you do need a vacation and I'll be happy to join you right along with Duck ! :lol
My kids aren't involved in anything. Soccer was a bust for both Mikey and Lyndsay, and I can't see paying 80/per kid to do it again. We were going to do bowling, but it's all school year long, once a week...and that's just too much. :(
Mikey did Cub Scouts last year, but the Den leader was an idiot, always rescheduling or just not showing up for meetings.

Include me in your little vacation please :beg
Logan has decided to skip soccer this year but he plays hockey which will be starting in a couple of weeks and then basketball after that. He plays baseball in the spring. C & C are still too young to play anything thank goodness. I can't imagine what I'll do when they start.

Caleb is in the band at school and may do basketball after the 1st of the year. Shelby is doing cheerleading and maybe girls scouts if I can't talk her out of it before Saturday:teehee and she wants to take competition dance/cheer when football season is over. Depending on a few things Hanna may join her for that.
I seem to be running all the time to Shelby is Tuesday and Thursday night practice with games on Saturday morning (maybe 1 during the week) Caleb is Thursday practice with games starting on Fridays that he will have to play at.
My Step Daughter is involved in several things soccer(3 teams year round traveling, select, and county), vollyball, basketball, girl scouts,NJHS, and STUCO. Sometimes I am glad she lives out of state and her mom hates us so we don't have to help out with her schedule :teehee

Zak, do you kids take roller skating lessons, or bowling league? Mine wanted to take roller skating lessons (like figure skating but on rollers) but I never looked into it. oops.
Here's my list.
THey played on a bowling league with day care all summer.
Skyler is on a travel soccer team.
Both girls Cheer for a mini football team.
They roller skate probably one a month year round, but never took lessons.
They are in a science club after school in the spring.
They do sport stacking in the spring.
They go to local museums, nature trails and Historical sites aprox. once a month either with Brownies, School, or our family.
Oh yeah, Brownies. :)
Our car club meets twice a year in a different part of the NE USA and Canada and the entire weekend is designed to learn about that geographic town/history etc. For example, we just went to Fishkill, NY on Labor Day weekend. We visited West Point and learned not only history of West Point and the generals that came from there, saw the entire grounds and went thru a basic day of the West Pointers, but also learned about canons, wars, geography and about how George Washington held back the British at the Hudson River at West Point with a GIGANTIC chain across the river.
Then we went to Hyde Park and saw the homestead of Franklin Roosevelt and learn a TON of history. We got a tour of his house, went to the first presidential museum and leaned about his politics, personality and family. In fact as I am typing this Skyler walked in to show me the library book she got today at school. It's a chapter book about Elenor Roosevelt and she was already up to chapter 3. She told me that she was confused because it says she lived in the White House. I explained and then she told me that when she was a little girl her name was Anna and she changed it later to Elenor. I never knew that!
Aside from sports and learing trips, they attend Hebrew/religious school on both Sundays and Thursdays.
