i have a blocked milk duct, i think

what do i do? it hurts. there's a lump shaped like an oval. and it feels like my boob's really full, but just in this one spot. did i mention it hurts? what helps or makes it go away?

Warm, wet heat and massage. I had one for a while, and I would sit in the shower with the hot water beating on that spot and massage it. You can also use a heating pad. If you can position a baby so that her upper lip and nose are lined up with the clogged duct, her strongest suck will be in that area to help unclog it. Keep an eye on it, so that it doesn't turn into mastitis. If you start running a fever, get to the dr, because that's a good sign that it has.

So warm, wet heat, massage, and nurse nurse nurse! I hope it goes away quickly. I know how painful they are.:hugs

thanks ring! i was hoping you'd see this! i posted it on HM and got the warm water, massage, and nurse advice, so i massaged it in a hot shower, and then nursed devonne. it seems to have gone down a little bit, but i don't know if that's just cuz there's less milk in that boob now, or what. we'll see. how long does it usually take to go away? maybe i'll go grab the heating pad too and just sit there with it on it for a while.
