going great. i was actually told in SC that i wasn't capable of making enough milk for two babies. yeah, they've grown over two pounds each and have made it 6 1/2 weeks on not enough milk!!! and i was nagged about it ALL WEEKEND! eventually i was like "well, you can think that if you want, but they're FINE!!! if they weren't the dr would have told me loooooong before now!!!" it was soooooo annoying. i know people just try to be helpful, but be helpful, not insulting. and telling someone how they're doing things wrong as a mom is just plain insulting, not to mention infuriating!!! OMG, that's a whole other thread right there, sorry to get off track...

anyway, my sore booby is alright. the clogged milk duct is gone. it actually was gone before DH got home from work that day. and i dunno if you remember my sore nipple, but that's still sore. i just don't know what to do with it. i mean, i still feed on that side, but i just cringe whenever a baby latches on. it goes away after a few seconds, but man does it hurt for those few seconds. and i dunno what it is, because the other one is FINE!!! ugh.

so yeah, other than a painful nipple, it's going awesome! i loooove it and am so proud of myself for doing it. i can't believe it's been almost 7 weeks that i've been at it so far!!!

Have you been using Lansinoh on your nipple? The stuff is amazing.

yeah, i have :sigh i dunno what's going on. but no amount of lansinoh is helping anymore. at first it was helping a little bit, but no more. :( if it doesn't get better soon, i think maybe i'll go to the doctor. i dunno what else to do.

hey girl, I went through this too around the same time you are too, every time she'd latch on I'd be kicking my foot into the ground until it felt less painful. I wanted to cry each time...

its like a sharp burning pain I had It eventually got better after a few weeks.. Just about a week ago I had a day or two of sore nipple on one side.

I had to use alot of lanolin though to get me through it, and if you need the support we are here, I wanted to give up so much during that..

So far nursing has been alot easier at 3 months at least (pain wise) now frequency is still there, I feel like I cannot get things acomplished, and manage somehow to get some sorta routine worked out, its not always the same time frame but a routine works.

keep up that awesome work girl, those baby girls will stay healthy!

:( It will get better Smidge darling. Hang in there. It can be difficult and painful at times but before you know it you'll have big fatties that nurse in 10 minutes and you won't even be able to believe what you went through in the beginning.

i totally agree! it will be simple and quick..then they will get wiggly and it will take longer, and then they will decide it is worth sitting still for and be quick again...lol. i am sooo glad it is going well for you, and hope that nipple feels better. look to make sure there is no blister on it. keep up using lots of lansinoh. you are one awesome mommy :flowers

You know....next time she starts in on you about not producing enough milk. Direct her to me. I have really really healthy 8 year old twins that were exclusively breastfed. And then, there is Ring's twins..... And then there is the rest of the list.....

well, our soon-to-be-ex idiotic ped who criticised me for still bf them at 15 months said at their 2.5 appt that she couldn't even tell them apart because she never sees them (and they are very fraternal). well, you idiot ped, you never see them because they are very healthy, and i believe a big part of that comes from bf. she still dismisses bf them as incidental or nothing to do with anything and doesn't even write it down. she asked me if their teeth were good...umm..shouldnt' you try looking at them and see for yourself???? never asked me what they ate, how they slept....what a waste of time!

i want to smack her every time i see her (which is only at well-baby visits). maybe tef and i should go pay her a visit...muhahahahaaa :teehee

wow mama, how come you haven't left her sooner? what an idiot! that was the first question my ped asked me was were they breastfed. and she made sure it was written down that they have never had formula, too. the drs at my office are really supportive and encouraging of it.

we had the most wonderful peds when we moved down here for about 6 months. loved all of them, and i know they were all good doctors (used to work at the hosptial in respiratory therapy, so i knew the peds). then we had to get new insurance and the crap policy made us switch.

the first time we went she told me the reason their reflux hadn't gone away a long time ago was that i was still "letting them" bf 5 times a day. she said after a year it didnt' do any good...arrghh! i was so stunned that ped could be so stupid that i blinked and said, "yes there are lots of benefits, and bf doesn't cause reflux or make it worse." we ignored her advice and left. the girls have been back once for shots, and never for being sick.

what i wanted to say was, "how the hell did you get a medical license to be a ped, and how many babies have you deprived of the best substance they could ever get to ensure they grow up healthy? how many mothers have you made to feel like failures and ruined the wonderful bf relationship they might had, as well as raised the chances they might get sick?"

see, i had some time to get good and angry :hehe :snicker

anyway, the good news is we switched insurance again, and we are going back to the good peds!!!! i won't have to give any speeches now or get arrested for assault with a mad mouth:D
