i can't go to vegas. it's way too far and we can't afford it. and i definately can't do a mommy weekend. i'll still be nursing, and i think DH wants to meet you all, too. if it's a family thing, and within driving distance of here, it'll be a little more feasible for me.

We are definitely doing something! I would prefer a kidless mom weekend, but if taht is going to prevent people from coming, then anyone can bring whoever they want to. I just want to play with all of you! I am most likely going kidless, so whoever wants to join me in that is more than welcome!

Smidge, we are not set on Vegas yet, but if we do go there, you can usually get fairly cheap flights. They expect you to gamble your money away instead. Vegas can be a fairly cheap vacation if you don't gamble and go see a ton of shows. Start saving now, and bring DH and the girlies! He can stay in the room with them while you go party it up.:teehee

Smidget
10-01-2006, 06:54 PM
shoot, we could leave everyone's kids with him. that'd be hillarious!

it sounds like a blast, i'll look into it and if we can get cheap flights and cheap rooms, than it's definately possible. as long as its on a week/weekend that he's off. luckily the girls will still be young enough that we don't need tickets for them to fly yet! lol

Start saving ladies! Our get together is going to happen sometime next summer. I think we were leaning towards July maybe? We will do a poll on it the closer we get. I'm assuming no one knows what their 2007 summer plans are yet, and we will have to work around family vacations and stuff. No matter when or where it is, figure it's going to cost at least $500, so start saving now!

Maybe we can all take over jennifur25's house if it's in Vegas.:lol That's awesome that we could have a tour gide there!:hyper

I've done Vegas in July- it's really not that bad. It's a dry heat! Actually, you don't spend a lot of time out during the day- you may walk between buildings, but that's about it. Most things are inside and air conditioned. I did more at night than during the day, and it cools off considerably after dark. The good things about Vegas- it's cheap, you can get a good deal on a flight/hotel, and more importantly- you can drink for free!

How about Orlando, FL.
It's not too hot in the spring. Lots of places to go other than just Disney World. We can look into renting the house we rented for our Tournament this weekend. It was $1080 from Thursday to Sunday. It's a 7 bedroom (5 w/ king, 1 w/ 2 twin beds and 1 w/ 2 sets of bunk beds and 5 bathrooms) We could split the cost and it would be really cheap. It's got a full kitchen so we can go grocery shopping and make it cheap.

Just a thought.

I am hugely in debt, and don't see having a whole lot of money by April, so as long as we can postpone this, the more time I have to save up money. And the less I have to spend the better! My girls' b-day is April 16th and Goo's babes is April 17th, so the middle of April is a no go for both of us.

Is there anywhere in the middle of the country for us to meet? I know the east coast is cheap for all of you living over there, but it's really expensive for us on the west coast, so if we can make things a bit more this way, that would be great!

The campground is in the Ogema/Rib Lake area. (middle of nowhere) It should be done by next summer. There will be private shower rooms there and a camp store. For those with issues about tents...my dad may be willing to rent out his cabin for a nominal fee...and he has put in a toilet so you wouldn't have to use the outhouse. :lol He's been talking about building more cabins and running a resort so maybe we could be his first guests. :lol There is lots of swimming, fishing, hiking, boating, etc. My dad got rid of his ancient 60's Sears boat that we used to ski behind, but if we could round up a boat we could teach the kiddies to water ski.

If we are seriously considering this I should ask them soon if everything would be ready. Maybe I'll email them tonight...

What airport is Dells and when are we doing this?

I definitely wouldn'd mind camping, but to pack all my gear would be insane. If we do camping, we need to find people that can drive it and have LOTS of gear to share. Without camping what would it be?

I'm all for camping. I'd have to shack up with someone though because I'd be flying. So far the cheapest flight I found from West Palm Beach International to Green Bay was $276, which isn't bad. That was for the month of May, which is what Kebbie suggested.

We need to kinda figure out a month if not date so that we can get more accurate prices. KWIM?

Smidge I can probably drive up to Orlando take a nap and then drive the rest of the way to your house. It wouldn't be that bad. And yes I speed, I usually get to Orlando in about 2 1/2 hours.

THis might be doable.

So...how much is it going to cost to rent out the place? Also, what are we going to do about food? Are their grocery stores nearby and refridgerators? What about cooking duties?

I probably won't go. I don't "do" camping. If I do go, since it is camping, I will have to take the boys. It is a two days' drive (14 hour driving days). I might have to stretch it out to three because of the boys. If it was just me, I would drive pretty much straight through with just a quick nap at a rest stop.

Hey zak, if you drive maybe I could go with you and split gas. That would be MUCH cheaper than flying and you would have some company plus someone else to drive. Although 4 days of driving would mean I would have to take a whole week off of work. I wonder how much that would cost me? I'm going to have to think about this some more.:lol

Does this mean no Vegas?:( I still really want to go to Vegas.

Well, if we drive together and don't take the kids, we could drive straight through. It is only 28 hours. And, if we needed to, we could take a nap at a rest stop.

Ringlette

I could do that!

Well, let's leave it as tentative. I have to clear it with DH. I also have to see if we have the money.

Ya'll, if we';re going to do camping, it has to be June, at the earliest. And I would suggest Mid June...that's when we usually go camping, over the 11th (Mikey's birthday)

june works. it has to be warm enough that we're not freezing our nipples off in tents.

Yuppers. May can still be quite cold, snowy and muddy. We've even gotten snow on my b-day June 3rd one year, but that was definately a freak incident. mid June-late September are good. Late July/early August do get a little muggy during the day.
