Do you send them to a camp? Are they involved in summer sports of some kind?

Since I am sahm/wahm I dont send mine to any type of day camp. They play soccer and mini football (which start practices in the late summer). We mostly just swim in the backyard or over one of my sisters' houses and play the days "by ear" until the practices for sports start.

Does anyone else make "plans" for kid activites in the summer or just wing it? I honestly look forward to a few weeks of no school, no activities, no schedules. I know that is a "luxury" of being a sahm. when I worked full time my MIL came over so I didnt have to worry about keeping them busy than, either. What does everyone else do, if anything?

We really don't do anything special. :shrug

Like you, we play it by ear. This is my first year of being a SAHM/WAHM, so the summer should be interesting. I'm considering putting all 4 in daycare one day a week, just to get them out of the house and be able to play with other kids. Other than that, we'll do parks, the beach, and playing outside.

This is my first year as a SAHM too. My school age daughter is going to drama camp for two weeks (it's run by her school and cheap), she begged me to go which is the only reason she's going. At the end of the two weeks they put on a play.

She BEGGED me to go, it's from 9 am to 12 pm in July, I figure if I put the twins in for an early nap we'll stiill have the rest of the day.

Emma who is 5 is on a soccer team that meets twice a week, once for practice, once for game.
She will also be taking 3 weeks of swimming lessons, and she goes to daycamp for a week in July.

Sarah is only here for a month, so for one week she is going to overnight camp, and the rest she is just here.

We will go family camping as well.

I so LOVE summer!

We don't really do anything differently during the summer. We school year round because we take intermitent days off throughout the year instead of months off.

Most summers my girls went to day camp for 9 weeks. It was very expensive and they were on a bus over an hour each way every day. We decided to bag that idea this year....

They are going to go to daycare's daycamp on most Monday's and Tuesdays. Every Monday they take the kids to an area state park swimming or if it rains to the movies. Every Tuesday is a local park/playground/picnic area and Bowling or a 'major' trip. The first Tuesday they are going to the Little League Hall of Fame and Reptile Land. Other 'trips' include Krispy Kreme donuts for a tour and they get to make their own donuts....A tour of the Red Baron baseball park (our AA local team), a trip to the heart of the Pocono's to the Pretzel Factory and Callies Candy Kitchen, and they will go Hiawatha Paddle Boating too! They really have an incredible program and for only $18/day per kid the two days/week is great!
(oh, I do have to make box lunches, too :sleepdeprivation)

Then I signed them up at our community library for free....for two great groups. A theator group that they will do skits and plays and stuff...I'll find out more next wed. and a summer reading group where they will act out books, do crafts related to the weekly book and even have some guest speakers. It's supposed to be great. The library is only about a block away too, so it's very convenient.

They start Cheerleading practices early in July and Soccer toward the end of July too. I think they will be kept fairly busy!
