My name is Goo and I am your Mod.
My babies were born at 33w3d. They only spent 16 days in the NICU. DS ended up at the Childrens hospital for surgery when he was 5 weeks old also.
DD was born first weighing 4lbs 1oz. She was fiesty. She pulled out 3 feeding tubes on her first day :lol Luckily she knew how to suck and we were OK. She developed jaundice but was out of the isolette within a few days :pinkheart She had a few episodes of apnea.
DS was born weighing 5lbs 1oz. Being a boy, he had a hard time breathing and had to be vented. He was quickly stepped down to CPAP. The hardest part was not being able to hold or touch him :cry He kept blowing IV lines and ended up with a stable line in his scalp :( We fed him BM through the feeding tube while he was in the isolette. His oxygen levels took a week to stabilize and he was finally put in a cot with a positive pressure room air nasal canula.
Then it was time to be feeders/growers..
I took them home at 35w5d gestation.
They were born via c-section due to Baby A (Gracie) having oligohydramnios and IUGR. Their placentas were fused and Baby A's was starting to fail. I am glad they took them when they did :pinkheart
