OK, so we just got done with Josh's huge evaluation for the surgery. It was 2 very loooong days for him. Poor little guy. He overcame so many fears these past couple of days. We are so proud of him :luv He got fitted for new braces yesterday. We go back Nov 1st to get those.

As far as the eval, I have a feeling they are going to suggest we wait another good year before having the surgery. We go back in Dec to hear from the whole rhizotomy team about their suggestions. He has to be mature enough to follow a very involved physical therapy program after the surgery. I don't think he can do it yet. We are hoping they say he wouldn't even benefit from the surgery, but we will see.

All of the appointments he had over the past 2 days didn't cost us a penny. Shriners provides free medical care to children. It isn't income based or anything. What an organization :luv

That is amazing... The last thing any parent should have to worry about when a child is sick is how they are going to pay for the medical care, or having to base treatment decisions based on what they can afford. Something is seriously screwed up with that system, I'm so glad that you have that kind of care available to you.

I so glad to hear that he made it through the last few days as good as he did. :woohoo Josh!!!! It blows me away how strong and brave little ones can be.
I hope your follow up meeting goes the way you would like it to.

YAY for Shriners!! What a brave guy you have there.

My uncle is a Shriner and told me recently that they would help me any way they could should we have to go to the Shriners Hospital.
