View Full Version : 2007 Poll

It seems like a number of people are gung-ho for camping/cabining (I like to make up new words) in WI. However, there are some that would be unable to join us and Vegas keeps coming up...so I think we should take another poll. The thing in WI would be family friendly, but of course you would be able to ditch the fam and spend your time getting intimate with Jose Cuervo in your tent, if that is what you would prefer. Vegas would be a little less kid-friendly, but I'm sure there would be a few people who would bring them, so those people could see what kind of family fun the Strip offers.

I say we go visit mickey mouse/islands of adventure... they have the pleasure island thing to get drunk and clubs there. it's not that expensive pleasure island ia about 20 bucks and well the parks are a bit expensive about $50 but maybe a group rate?

wendy just doesn't wanna travel :hehe whatever we do is fine with me although whether i can do something where i have to fly to is questionable. i may not be able to afford it, because no matter what i have to get at least 2 plane tix (can't carry both girls on my lap). so places i can drive to work better for me, like DC, wisconsin, Disney, chicago, etc. Las Vegas i'd LOVE to do, but i don't think i'd be able to afford it :( that's why i liked the camping idea. pretty cheap.

I would love for something in the middle of the US. I am in North Louisiana and a trip to Vegas would be pretty expensive (as much as I would love to go). I may be able to swing WI but would probably have to come alone.
I hope we can get something set up. I would love to meet you guys.

Okay, I don't think we're going to find something to accomodate every person :(
Maybe we could plan 2 trips? One for Vegas and one for WI...then people can pick and choose which one they can make? Quite frankly, I don't think I can do Vegas. We do a family camping trip every year, and I would love to make this our family trip.

I voted Vegas, because it would be tons cheaper for me, and you all know how my money situation is.:( No matter where we chose, though, I will be there. If it's too expensive for me to take the girls too, then I will go alone, but if we go camping, I would LOVE to take the girls. I have never taken them camping, and I will be sad if everyone else has their kids there and I don't have mine. I will be getting a rather large tax return that I will be using for this trip, but I can't use too much of it. I am drowning in credit card debit (because of my 2 recent unemployments) and I need to get it down. I will just go into this with the thought that we are going to WI (the most expensive choice for me), and I am taking the girls, so hopefully I will be able to swing it financially. I'm going to try to convince Kurt to go to WI too, so he can help with the girls. :D
Kebs, I think we should just decide on one trip, and if people who can't do that want to do something else, then they can plan it. I don't want us to divide up or I will never meet anyone from the east coast. I want this to be a GZ thing, not an east/west coast thing like TS does.:para Wherever we decide to go, I will be there. There is NO WAY I am missing meeting all of you!
Oh! Oh! An idea! Why don't we do this year closer to one coast and next year closer to the other?

i would love to do Vegas but we are in the process of looking for a bigger house which means all momma's disposable income is going bye-bye...
i can secretly start saving for 08 tho :) maybe some of us can plan "regional" gatherings as well... Liz and Leslie and I had talked about doing a weekend thing for the mommas.

Oh, it is a far drive unfortunately. Wisconsin is up there next to Minnesota. I remember that it took me about 20 or so hours to drive to St. Paul, Minnesota. What you could do is drive here and we could fly out together or something. You are only about 3 hours from me.

This is my situation as well. We are buying a bigger house sometime in the next 8 months or so. I will have to start saving now and convincing my husband he can watch the kids for the weekend.

It would be better for me if it were to be in WI since it is only 14 hours away(per map quest :roll ) I was looking online and for me to fly to Vegas it would be about $500- $600. Plus being out in the woods with you all and booze sounds kinda fun :lol
You know what would be even cooler is if we could find one of those campgrounds that has the group camps, you know for like the girls scouts, clubs, summer camps kind of thing. We have one down here that has one big eating area/kitchen and a couple of large cabins/buildings that sleep like 20 per building. Come on you guys you know that would fun :lol

Min Disney and Universal Islands of Adventure are actually in Orlando, FL. Smidge and you know this....
Tghe problem with me is money too, even though by next year i should of gotten my tax return and I could try to save up the money... I don't know whatever you decide, camping sounds like fun, so does vegas it's just the $$$ with me I don't mind traveling at all... beleive me... just gotta figure out if the kdis can come or not and how much.. Cuz even capming can get pricey when you have 3 kids to go with b/w gas, tolls, cabin and food YKWIM?

I'm pretty much open for anything. Originally I was going solo. If we all decide to do teh camping thing then I will see if we can financially swing the whole fam. We doe make up a small country by ourselves so money is always a factor when planning a vacation. I really want to meet everyone and I agree with Ring, I would hate for this to become a regional thing. the one yr east coast and the next west coast is a good idea too.

Why don't we plan something big for 08? And just do regional stuff next year. That will give us all time to save up the money. But, I would decide 08's plans now so we know how much we need to save up.
