We had already had 2 children, Mikey and Lyndsay...and were supposed to be done. I was late in June, and Mike told me to take a PG test, just to ease my mind. I really never expected that we were pregnant. Low and Behold, 2 lines. I cried that day. We just were not financially stable, and did not want any more kids. This was a Friday. I told my family and by that following Monday, both of us were excited to be expecting a baby. A total 180 from what were feeling that Friday. I made the appt, and when I went in, I was about 8 weeks along.
Everything was checking out normal, but my ob was concerned that I may be further along than we thought. So, he pulled out the ultrasound machine, and went to it. He was just sitting there looking at the screen, when he said, well, that's why you're so big. We just looked at him, and he pointed out baby 1 and baby 2. We were in shock, but so excited! As, was the rest of our family.
The entire beginning of my pregnancy, I felt great. During the second trimester, I was extremely sick and was on a number of meds for the nauseau and heartburn...none of which helped. Then, just when the nausea subsided, I fell violently ill. I struggled with constant throwing up and dysentary for 3 days, when my OB told me to go to the hospital. I was admitted for 5 days for dehydration. Turns out I had contracted Salmonella from my iguanas, which we did give away to a better home.
I continued to work until I was 36 weeks, and just to the point that I was too uncomfortable to move. At 37 weeks, I bloated up HUGE. I was diagnosed with Pregnancy Induced Hypertension, and borderline Pre-Eclampsia. I was on bedrest in the hospital for almost a week, and let out for a the weekend (which was also my birthday). I went in on Monday, Jan 27, 2003 and was induced.
