I went into the Doctor for my appointment on January 9 2006. I decided not to bring my bags because I figured if I didn’t I’d get admitted. Well I did! My blood pressure was high and Dr. Keene wanted me to go to the hospital and be monitored for 2 hours. She said I probably would be sent home. After being monitored for less than an hour they decide to keep me due to the possibility of developing Preeclampsia, where my blood pressure would not go back down.
I was induced around 3 in the evening. Hadn’t eaten since 9 that morning, I was starving and ofcourse they wouldn’t let me eat anything. I got my epidural I believe around 11. I wasn’t feeling any of my contractions, but she was trying to open my cervix and that became PAINFUL! I tried to get some rest (yeah right) and I started feeling the pressure of the contractions about 5 and I still had not dialated more than 3 centimeters. They gave me another dose which numbed the wrong side and had to be rolled because I couldn’t move myself. I woke up again at 8 having major pressure and the doctor checked me and I was fully dialated and ready to go. I pushed for about 30-45 min with Cody and they had me stop and moved me to the O.R. incase an emergency c-section was needed. I may have pushed 10 more minutes and Cody was out. Once they got Dylan’s sac busted I pushed 3 times and he was out. He came out sunny side up.
It was a beautiful experience! Cody came back to the room with me and Dylan was taken to the nursery for monitoring because he was grunting and they wanted to make sure that he was breathing ok.

Unfortunately their sucking reflex was not fully developed and were given feeding tubes. I tried breast feeding but they also indicated that the magnesium that I was on could have been in their system which was making them very groggy. I was put on bedrest for 24 hours after delivery and was really out of it and didn't get to spend any time with the boys until the next day. We ended up staying till Friday because they wanted to monitor Cody since he had turned blue on them a couple times and my blood pressure was up a little.
I cried all the way home with being overwelmed amount of emotion. It has so far been the best 9 months ever!

Wow, your opening paragraph could have been the opening paragraph of my birth story. I was kept in hospital because of pre-eclampsia after a routine check up just a few days before you!

Congratulations on the safe arrival of your babies and extra congratulations for making it through the first year! Happy Birthday to Cody and Dylan!:D
