View Full Version : When did your twins "drop"/turn before birth?

I just went for my 26 week appointment and was told I will likely end up having a C section because both of my twins are in breech position (heads up, feet down). They are weighing 1 lb. 12 and 1 lb. 10 oz now so I am wondering if they still have room to turn or not. I am not necessarily against having a C section. I will do whatever I need to so they are healthy. However, I just wondered when other folks' twins turned and if there is still a chance. Also, how many of you had a vaginal for one and a C for the other. I am very much against doing that.

They can turn up to the very last minute although it becomes more and more unlikely as you move forward. But I know of a couple of twin moms who had them turn later on in their pregnancy!
As for dropping, I didn't officially drop because I carried so low the whole time. The whole third trimester I felt like they were both going to fall out every time I went to pee. LOL!

My presenting baby didn't move after 24 weeks. Baby B moved a little but never truly changed position. I was told I would have a c-section at 24 weeks and I did end up having one. When I went to the hospital for my section they did an ultrasound to make sure they weren't head first. He gave me every last opportunity to have them vaginally but it just wasn't gonna happen.
Also, if your Baby B (top baby) is even slighty larger than Baby A they will do a section even if presenting baby is in position. They won't want to risk you having to have both! At least that is the way my doc did things. Good luck!

I love this question! Mine were head down from about 28 weeks. An HOUR before I started pushing during labor at 36 weeks Sarah turned transverse under my ribs causing me to have a vaginal birth for Elijah and emergency C-section for Sarah. :faint However, I survived. lol

. I am not necessarily against having a C section. I will do whatever I need to so they are healthy.

That is the way to think about it, girl!!! Whatever the babies need. You really can't control their positions. My girls last turn came around 32 weeks. Ella was breech and Chloe was head down on Ella's crotch!!
I delivered two healthy girls via c-section at 37 weeks. No NICU time was needed.
Try not to stress about it too much.:hug IMO-most people end up with a c-section for twins. Keep us posted!!!!!:wave

For me, Baby A was always head down. Baby B was up, down, up, down. You really won't know until that day. They thought I was going to need a C-section because she kept moving, but she was head down when it was time. SHe was head down and they still thoght I need a section b/c she kept sticking her hand out looking for a tip or something. Silly girl. But she moved her head and came down. So you truely never know. Don't stress over it though. As long as they come out, they'll be fine! :para

My baby A turned at 33 weeks. I had a c-section at 37 weeks and we had no NICU time at all. I never "dropped" because I always carried so low.

Baby A (Toad) was head down pretty early on. I know at the 28 weeks ultrasound, they said that he was exactly where he need to be. Baby B (Q) flipped back and forth constantly. He even did it at an ultrasound three days before I had them. After Toad came out, Q was in there flipping around and enjoying all the space. I had both of mine vaginal.

i knew early on that mine were breech (i think at like 28 weeks), and they never turned, although i did try to convince them that they should. i had a c-section because they were both breech. i have heard of them turning late in pregnancy though. i just wasn't so lucky.
as for dropping, mine didn't. but i'm tiny, so i had one baby low and one high all through the pregnancy. there was no where for them to drop to. i made it 38 weeks and they were still right where they were the whole time...

I had a c-section for a couple reasons.
1) Morgan (B) was laying sideways and showed no signs of turning.
2) I got my tubes tied at the samw time.
3) Had I not gone into labor at 34 weeks, my Dr was going to take them anyway since Megan's (A) amnio fluids kept dropping.
For me, my Dr. absolutely refuses to turn a baby that isn't presenting head first.
You still have time and there still is a posibility that they will turn.
I do know pople that have delivered on vaginally and the other c-section.
Sorry if I am repating anything as I didn't read anyone elses responses before replying. :lol
Well, they've probably got plenty of room to move. Mine were in a different position each week for the 4 weeks leading up to their birth. At 31 weeks, they were vertex/vertex. At 32 weeks, they were breech/vertex. At 33 weeks they were breech/transverse. At 34 weeks when I had them, they were transverse/vertex. They were just flipping around all the time. I had to have a c-section not because of their positions but because of my preeclampsia. I hadn't even dilated at 34 weeks or had any contractions. I'm sure they would have switched around again.

My girls were head down from pretty early on. But, I did feel them do flips a few times (and you WILL feel it :para) but they always went head down again.

Eowyn turned when I was about 30 weeks or so. I can't remember the exact weeks, but I definitely remember the exact moment. It was HUGE! Unfortunately, Ame was the lowest one and she never did turn. She had her butt firmly planted on the exit, so I had a c for both of them.

mine never "dropped" but my baby B turned from transverse/breech-ish to heads down around 30-32 weeks or so... up until that point we were planning a breech extraction on B!

Tyler was head down from the start and stayed that way, such a good boy ;) Tristan was head down most of the pregnancy but right before i delivered he went transverse then as they finally got me a room in labor & delivery he turned head down. He knew momma was ready to have those babies! :)

You know, they can flip up until the last minute. Baby A flipped to head down at 35 weeks for me and then I had a little stinker (baby B) flipped from head down to breech at 38 weeks. I still had a vaginal birth, B flipped head down as soon as A came out.

I had one that flipped a bit but the breech baby stayed breech for quite awhile and never flipped. The C was no biggie at all. Vag or C, you'll be fine. Good luck!!
