OK, so next month will be exactly 24 months since I got pregnant with the "baby" who is now 14 mo old. I have BF him but have weaned down to only once a day at bedtime, and sometimes for various reasons or if he falls asleep before he nurses, I do end up skipping a whole day. So I know I am not really "feeding" him as much as just for comfort when he does nurse that one time a day. I have been taking the mini-pill (Micronor generic) since last October. Here is my question... is it NORMAL that I still have yet to get a period since having the baby?? I know that some BF moms don't get it back for a long time, and also that the mini-pill (progestin only pill) can surpress them as well but I mean come on... I have all but fully weaned him but am still on the pill. I'm getting concerned, and no there is NO chance at all that I could even be having another one! Not possible!
So is this normal? I have a doc appt in the next couple of weeks but in the meantime...

holy cow!!! i dunno if that's normal or not, but if there's no medical reason for it, or even if there is but its not a bad thing, then you're one LUCKY woman! i know BFing can hold it off, but i thought it was as long as you were BFing a lot still, not once a day or so :lol man, i hope i'm that lucky!

first off, don't think that he isn't getting anything by only nursing once. that dose of antibodies and the drink of pure nutrition can really make a difference, so good for you that you are still there for him!

as for the period...if there is no way you could be pg in the last few months..not just this month, then i would say it is possible it is from your pill. bf once a day isn't really enough to suppress your period unless you had some issues with it before you got pg, but the pill may be suppressing it.

i personally would recommend you talk to your ob/gyn about it, since s/he sees patients on that same pill every day, and will have better statistics on getting the period back than any friend or online source would. have you gotten a pap smear and checkup in the last few months? if not, then i would call and ask about it. it probably isn't anything to worry about, but it sure wouldn't hurt to get some input on it.

:yeah

I can't say that I'm not jealous. I was hoping I would still not get mine for awhile yet, but it just started up the other day for the first time since pre preggo. :( Anyway, I hope that it is not due to any medical concern and that your doctor can figure it out.

I agree with Ruth Anne. Talk to your ob/gyn and then let us know what the sex is. LOL! :teehee j/k!!! I am curious though why you haven't had one.

LOL Ruth Anne! Get this- I went to the doctor yesterday, a new one since we have moved. Anyway, it has been about 2 weeks since I last nursed my son and still no AF. The doctor seemed to think it was due to the mini pill that I was on and possibly the lack of estrogen and increased prolactin hormones. He did not find anything else wrong with me. I was doubled over in pain for the last 2 days this week so I though maybe I had a cyst or something but apparently there is no evidence of such a thing. That is good news. So he said to stop taking the mini pill, wait 2 weeks and if I get AF then start the combination pills and if I DON'T get it then I have to go for lab work to measure thyroid, FSH, LH etc... levels. HOWEVER------ I think the problem is solved. I seriously doubt skipping ONE day of the pill caused it to happen but anyway, I'm in pain now but at least I know I am not some sort of a freak! I guess my body was just more sensitive to the hormones in the pill and with nursing so it kept AF away for a FULL 2 years since I got pregnant. Thanks for thinking of me!
