Well starting at the beginning. DH and I started dating at 18. Once we were joking about 'one day when we have kids' and I said, well you know twins run in my family, so I destined. Come to find out his Grandmother is an identical which I know has nothing to do with heredity, but just coincidence. My grandmother (moms mom) is a Fraternal boy/girl twin which is hereditary..... Anyway fast foward...... We married in 2000 after 10 years of dating (we weren't in any rush apparently :lol and decided heck lets start now having a family... so we tried, and tried and tried :spermegg and then BAMMMM in December we were pregnant. Not giving second thought to our conversation those many years before. So I go to my 8 week appointment and the Doc says you are more like 12 weeks. uh no I'm not, I'm 8 weeks. Well you measure about 12. So how do we find out how far I am. An ultrasound. So I have them schedule for Valentines day 2001. Well I drank my 32oz of water, didn't pee and basically floated to my appointment. I get there and beg to relive myself just a tad, I promise not a lot PLEASE:wink , she said well we are ready for you. But DH isn't here. Well we don't allow anyone in the room until we get validity of heartbeat, so come on back. So back I go, she is moving the wand around and stops, cleans it all off and tells me, go pee. WHAT IS EVERYTHING OK, DH ISN'T HERE AND HASN'T SEEN ANYTHING. Well I need to do an internal ultrasound, we could count baby A's heart rate, but can only see baby B's heart rate. WHAT?????????:shakehead... So I go relieve, she gets DH and tells us that we are having TWINS and I am only 9 weeks at this point.
Fast forward, besides getting huge really fast the first 4 months of my pregnancy was uneventful..... I was nausious, but not terribly. The only thing I could eat was Fruity Pebbles and PB&J sandwhiches, so I lived on them. At about month 5 I started to have preterm labor and was taken from work about 27 weeks..... I really started to contract and was put on 'moderate' bed rest. Iwith a nonstress test every other day. In that time my husband's grandfather was put in the hospital (the same as where I would deliver), so I spent my every other day of moderate bed rest there with him after I had my test. At about 28 weeks he passed away, so I then spent 1 more week with the funeral and just being there...... At 30w 6d I delivered, apparently (as I already admitted:hehe I wasn't real good at the bedrest thing) because I didn't rest enough.
My guys were born July 16, 2001 very healthy preemies. They are complete fraternal boys, look NOTHING alike. So fraternal twins really do skip generations!!!!!!!!:thumbsup
