Lydi has to have 2 cavities filled today. I am a nervous wreck! She loves the dentist but I fear that this is going to make her fear him as bad as I do. I am terrified of the dentist. I have to take a nerve pill just to get in the chair and I don't want her to be like that. If you pray please say one for my little one this afternoon (you might also say one for the dentist, if he hurts her he is going to need lots of them :lol).

I would explain it to her as when she gets an owie on her skin, it repairs itself and that her teeth have an owie and teeth don't repair themselves like skin does. The dentist is going to put some medicine on her mouth so she won't feel it (to make sure it won't hurt) and repair the owies. Our dentist only uses the tooth colored fillings and so we talk about how we won't even be able to tell where it was (well, not anymore, because they are older, but we did).

We even went as far to explain what the medicine was and what it did.

Words are on their way up. Hopefully it goes well for her. I don't so much mind the dentist, having the cavity taken care of is MUCH less painful than the alternative, and sometimes they give you that nitrous stuff. The bills on the other hand? Downright scary.

All the best to your daughter!

It went great! He was done in 5 minutes and she didn't even flinch! He didn't numb her which surprised me. He said baby teeth are easer to "clean out" than adult teeth so he doesn't numb little ones. He said most kids fear the shot more than the fixing of the tooth.

Wow. Good for her! I'm sorry I missed this earlier.

I'm glad it went well. We haven't even had the kids to the dentist..no dental insurance :(

We don't have it either Kebs. Our dentist isn't as expensive as some I have been too. Today was $78 for 2 cavities. OUCH!
