I said when I called the doc at 1AM. I wasn't sure, there were no contactions. He told me to come in and get checked but I could tell he felt like this was a false alarm. I called my sis to come over, waited for her, packed a bag and the contractions started. They were really close and strong. The entire car ride to the hospital was one LONG HARD contraction. Thankfully it was 1:30 in the AM or traffic would have been bad.

DH pulls in front of the ER, the wheelchair comes out and I get in. I felt like I went to the bathroom on myself as I got into the chair, I was totally grossed out (thinking I was now soiled with #2). I got upstairs (after a man cleaning the evevator asked if we could take the stairs :duh) and the nurses could tell I was having contractions and said to get into the bed the dr was not here yet. At this point nobody (even me realized how far along I was). I asked to use the potty first (because I thought I was dirty from the #2).

I sat on the toilet and realized, that was not #2, it was Baby A. I called for a nurse and she told me to open up so she could look...good thing she could catch because out came Baby A right into her arms(2:05AM)!! Me, her and DH were all in complete shock. The NICU nurse came in, cut the cord and took Baby A to the warmer. SHe looked at me and asked me if i could walk to the bed to get cleaned up and I said " I am having twins". You should have seen her face then!!

So the on call dr came in (mine still not there, I know he didn't believe me). SHe did a u/s and Baby B was breech, and his heart rate was low. I went in for an emergency C. When I woke up DH was there and he told me that we had another boy at 2:23AM.

I was the talk of the floor the whole next day.

wow! that is CRAZY!!! i sure hope you fired your Dr. though after that! it's his job to take even false alarms seriously and not make judgements before he goes in and sees for himself. there were a couple times my Dr. told me to go to the hospital just in case when i didn't think i needed to.
