Default For those who have premies....

My girls are 6 months old (4 months adjusted) and I know all kids are different, but does your baby(ies) seem more on track with their actual than with adjusted? Mine were born at 31.3 weeks and spent 3 weeks in the NICU. But they are on track with their actual age at the moment. I find myself saying how blessed we've been, but is this uncommon or more common than I realize?

Mine were fine for a while (34 weekers) but as they hit 2, we started seeing speech delays and now they're going to be evaluated for fine motor delays. I don't know if its related to their preemie status or just part of the gene pool

They were 33 wkers and in NICU for 3 weeks, and they are 5 now. One has been ahead or one time for everything, and one had some motor issues but caught up, although she is still off balance and awkward. Not sure if that is preemie related or just who she is, but she seems to function ok. They both read and love to dance, and although one doesn't like fine motors tasks as much she is getting better. I think it is a combination of genes, environment (sister talking first keeps one from talking amny times) before and after birth, and personality. The one who has had some issues was the one on the bottom, and she was smashed in place for a long time. Not sure if that has anyting to do with anything, but interesting. She also was sleepy at birth, but she is ahead in some things too. I guess two diffeernt kids

As the saying goes, when a door slams shut in one place a window opens somewhere else. After staring at the door for many years, it finally occured to me to go look for the open window. I discovered I like sunlight and warmth much more than peeling old doors anyway, so I climbed out the window and reveled in my discovery. I will never sit behind a closed door again, no matter how comfortable my chair becomes.

I remember our doc saying they expect them to be on track by around a year but mine were only 4 weeks early. There were some things they were early or on time with and other things they were late with.

Mine still are not caught up at almost 4 but I think mine are an exception because mine were 14 weeks early.
