Zak I so agree with all you said......
Never tell a child you will throw their toys in the bin if they don't pick them up. I told my kids once (I've never had to again) and they obviously didn't believe me cause they didn't pick them up, so I threw them in the bin! Damn kids LOL
Be consistent and follow through on your words.....I've had my older girls laugh when I ground them, saying they didn't care cause they knew i would forget the next day...so I wrote it on my calendar after that and never forgot again....and my son just told me that I always take his nintendo away saying I will never give it back to him, but I always do....he should've kept his mouth shut cause he hasn't played it for a week now...LOL
My son used to scream at me saying he hated me, I would tell him that I didn't much like his behaviour or him but I still loved him or I would just ignore him.....it was around the age of 5-6 so it might be the age?
Another thing to do when they scream "I hate you!", is to grab them and hold them down and kiss all over their face, saying "i love you to pieces" while you are kissing them. Make sure you use "kissing noises" while you are doing it.
Or, depending on the situtation, they yell "I hate you" and you state (in a calm voice) "good, my job as been accomplished" and walk off.
